Homemade Chemical Free Wild Yam Cream

Another method to utilise the benefits of Wild Yam’s active compounds is by using it directly on the skin in the form of a cream. Even though there are numerous wild yam creams available commercially, creating our own offers the advantage of knowing precisely what ingredients you're incorporating into the formula.

Our skin is the largest organ in our body and it works like a sponge absorbing the compounds we are exposed to. The average woman uses 12 cosmetic products composed of 168 chemical ingredients daily, which can be one of the reasons why we are facing the highest rates of dermal diseases and endocrine disorders in human history.

A simple method for crafting Wild Yam Cream at home involves using an Infused Oil Base, requiring just three ingredients: wild yam powder, coconut oil, and either beeswax or shea butter.

Method: Infused Oil Base Wild Yam Cream

Ingredients:

1 cup of dried wild yam root
2 cups of carrier oil (such as olive oil or coconut oil)
Beeswax or shea butter (optional, for thickening)

Instructions:

Grab a clean glass jar and mix the powdered wild yam root with the coconut oil. The oil will help extract the active compounds from the wild yam root.
Seal the jar tightly and place it in a sunny spot for about 4-6 weeks. This allows the oil to soak up all the medicinal contents from the wild yam root. Don’t forget to give the jar a shake now and then to keep things mixed up.
After the infusion period, strain the oil using cheesecloth or a fine mesh strainer to remove any leftover bits of plant material. This leaves you with a smooth and potent infusion ready to be turned into cream.
Melt some beeswax or shea butter in a double boiler and add it to the infused oil. This gives your cream a nice texture and makes it easier to apply.
Finally, give everything a good stir and transfer your homemade wild yam cream to a clean, airtight container. This keeps it fresh and ready for whenever you need a little skin pampering. With patience and care, your skin will thank you for this natural treat!
